February 12, 2025— Labor and Delivery Nurse Rebecca Moore, RN is the 41st HMSL HMSL recipient of the DAISY award. Rebecca was surprised by her team in the Childbirth Center, who celebrated her along with senior leadership, her family and other hospital leaders. Two of the four nominating families also attended the surprise ceremony, to honor Rebecca and thank her for her care. The other two families sent her something via mail. She was selected out of 160 nurses and received four nominations for her extraordinary care. Here is what they said about Rebecca:
- She went above and beyond her job duties for my induction on 4/3/24. I came into the hospital irritated and defeated that I was getting induced and due to issues with my first delivery I was hesitant to get an epidural for this induction. Having her as my L&D nurse was like a breath of fresh air, she was very kind and thorough and knew what I needed before I even did. She totally changed my attitude in a positive way and I was so thankful for all the options she gave me during my labor. After my water was broken I couldn’t take the pain anymore and wanted an epidural, unfortunately I progressed too fast and there wasn’t enough time. She scrambled to get everything ready as baby was coming and continued to reassure me when I felt like I couldn’t do it and wanted to give up. I’ll forever remember this delivery and know I wouldn’t have had the same outcome if it wasn’t for her. I have never met a more encouraging nurse and am so thankful she was the one to help me through something that felt impossible.
- I was in the middle of experiencing some of the worst contractions of my life, waiting for an epidural, when her shift started. The previous nurse that had been with me had been absent most of the night leaving me to labor alone. When she came in, she immediately demonstrated three things that would set my labor and following birth (of my first child!) up for a beautiful experience and success: attitude, expertise, and connection. Her attitude was bright, positive, energized. She never lost this in the entire time she was with me (and she stayed over to make sure I got moved to my postpartum room so I could see my family before visiting hours ended). She showed expertise by immediately recognizing I was having back labor (baby sunny side up) and jumping in to hold my hips to ease the pain of each contraction. She connected with me fully and completely the whole time. I felt like I had a mother figure in the room with me. Please, reach out I would love to tell you more about this phenomenal nurse!!
- She was on shift with patient on June 13. She was simply outstanding with my daughter. She was friendly and explained every detail of what was happening. She is one of the best nurses I’ve met in labor and delivery!
- I was recently a patient of Becca from L&D and can’t express enough gratitude for the exceptional care she gave me. She greeted me with warmth/compassion, took charge of the situation, made sure all my needs were heard/ met, and instantly put me at ease as a first-time mom. She explained everything in detail throughout the entire day what to expect as the situation changed & never allowed anything to surprise us. She was extremely attentive, listened to my concerns & made me feel extremely supported the entire step of the way. Her support throughout my difficult labor was more than I could have ever asked for my first birth experience & I truly don’t know how I would have gotten through it without her support and words of encouragement. There are not enough words for me to thank her & show her how much her actions that day made such a positive impact on my birth experience. We were truly blessed to have her that day. I wish I could request her to deliver all my babies! Thank you!!
Thank you and congratulations, Rebecca!
