Around the World Cookbook Spices Up the Holidays
Be sure to include the revised Around the World Cookbook to your holiday party preparation list essentials. The revised edition includes 38 new recipes submitted by Houston Methodist employees during October’s Global Diversity Awareness Month celebration. First published in 2021, the cookbook contains more than 100 recipes divided into five categories: appetizers, desserts, entrees, beverages and “miscellaneous.”
Learn More About DEI Terms
The Glossary of Important DEI Terms, available in the DEI Toolkit, is a valuable resource for Houston Methodist employees that provides definitions to common DEI terms. Each month, the DEI Corner presents definitions to help increase staff awareness and understanding. This month’s terms:
Identify-First Language: Language that leads with a description of the person’s, medical conditions or other physical or cognitive differences. Examples include terms such as “deaf person,” or “blind person.”
People/Person-First Language: Emphasizes the individuality and dignity of a person rather than defining them by their disability. Examples include, “a person who is deaf/blind” and “children with disabilities.”
