Application Period Open in the Summer Scholars Program
The Houston Methodist Summer Scholars Program Administered by the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is accepting applications for the 2025 program through Jan. 1, 2025.
Now in its fourth year, the 10-week, need-based program takes place May 27 through Aug. 1, 2025 and gives exceptional junior and senior college undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher the opportunity to receive intensive, hands-on learning and leadership development in select Houston Methodist departments. Scholarship recipients will learn directly from health care leaders in non-clinical areas and build upon problem-solving and public speaking skills. Each scholar receives a direct payment scholarship of $6,000.
Please share this opportunity with students who may meet the scholarship program criteria. Application requirements, along with the link to the online application form and additional information, can be found here.
The program’s goal is to facilitate professional development and create exposure to career opportunities in health care for students from underrepresented populations. Questions regarding this opportunity may be submitted via email to DEIsummerscholar@houstonmethodist.org.

Last Chance to Use Your DEI Personal Day
Dec. 14, 2024 is the deadline for eligible employees to use their 2024 DEI Personal Day hours. They may be used to celebrate days that are special to you or other members of your faith, race, nationality or anything else that makes you unique. There are no restrictions on what you can use it for. Note that unlike standard PTO, the hours do not roll over to the next year, so don’t forget to use your personal day before the last day of the final pay period, which falls on Dec. 14, 2024. Just as with any other time off request, employees need to request and be approved for the time off. If you do not have department guidelines for requesting PTO, the PTO policy, HR25, requires one week’s advance notice.
