Learn More About DEI Terms
The Glossary of Important DEI Terms, available in the DEI Toolkit, is a valuable resource for Houston Methodist employees that provides definitions to common DEI terms. Each month, the DEI Corner presents definitions to help increase staff awareness and understanding.
Ethnocentrism: The practice of using a particular ethnic group as a frame of reference, basis of
judgment or standard criteria from which to view the world. Ethnocentrism favors one ethnic group’s
cultural norms and excludes the realities and experiences of other ethnic groups.
