Global Fashion Showcase Photos
Thanks to the models and everyone who attended October’s systemwide Global Fashion Showcases. The campus fashion shows featured 229 Houston Methodist employees modeling cultural attire that provided staff the opportunity to have a great time while learning a little more about their colleagues’ backgrounds and traditions. Blanket Drive Benefits Houston’s Homeless
The Women’s Empowerment Alliance employee resource group’s (ERG) 2nd Annual Blanket Dive continues through November 29. The group is collecting new and gently used blankets, with all donations benefiting Hope Impacts, a non-profit that supports the Houston area homeless community. Contact womensempowermentalliance@houstonmethodist.org for more information on how to donate.
Going Beyond Cultural Competency
Understanding and appreciating the traditions and cultures of our colleagues and the patients and communities we serve can improve communication and help build stronger teams. The Beyond Cultural Competency learning session will help you gain the knowledge and skills to effectively recognize and appreciate cultural differences, the role empathy plays in effective communication and examine how it enables us to display our I CARE values. Click HERE to request a team learning session.
In addition to Beyond Cultural Competency, the DEI Learning courses available now include Recognizing the Impact of Microaggressions, Managing Unconscious Bias, Navigating Multi-Generational Teams, Equitable Communication and Together We Grow. Search “DEI” in the LMS to register for any DEI Learning session. For more information, email deilearning@houstonmethodist.org.
