What is Prediabetes?
Prediabetes is a condition in which blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. People with prediabetes are at a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Approximately 1 in 3 adults in the US have prediabetes. There are no clear symptoms of prediabetes, so you may not be aware you are at risk.
Do You Know Your Risk?
You are invited to participate in an information session and risk screening to learn more about a new program Wellness Services is launching to help employees prevent type 2 diabetes. You might be at risk for prediabetes if you have any or all of the following risk factors:
• BMI of 25 or above (23 for Asian Americans)
• A1c of 5.7-6.4 / Fasting glucose of 100-125 or previous diagnosis of gestational diabetes
• 45 years old or older and get little or no physical activity on a typical day
Diabetes Prevention Program — Prevent T2:
The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a structured lifestyle change program to help you lose weight through eating healthier and being more physically active. Research has shown that participants who take part in programs like the DPP can cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% and lose an average of 5-7% of their body weight. The DPP is a yearlong program delivered in a group environment by a specially trained lifestyle coach that will help you learn new skills, meet your goals, and gain confidence in making healthy lifestyle changes. The Core program meets one hour weekly for the first six months and transitions to the Maintenance program with monthly meetings for the last six months.

Hello, I would like to participate in this program, but I have not attended the info session meetings. Is it still possible and if so, what do I need to do?
Thanks!
