On Feb. 11, we will upgrade to Epic version 2017. Make sure you’re ready by reviewing your Epic v2017 Upgrade Companion, which is available starting today, Monday, Jan. 15.
Upgrade Companions are your sole training resource. Review it carefully – and download or print if necessary. Your manager will receive a weekly report to confirm completion of your review.
Companions include:
• Upgrade changes, including critical information, new features/workflows and look and feel highlights and helpful tips
• Guided Playground practice exercises
• Links to additional resources
Review Your Upgrade Companion in Epic
A banner with a link to your specific Upgrade Companion will display at the top of your Learning Home dashboard.
NOTE: Be sure to verify that you reviewed your Upgrade Companion by selecting the check box and clicking the Upgrade Companion button at the bottom of the Upgrade Companion banner within Epic (see screenshot below).
To visit your Learning Home:
• Log into Epic and select your dashboard home workspace tab (pie chart icon). Your Learning Home should display
• If you have more than one dashboard workspace, click the dashboard icon (square with number in it) and select your Learning Home
Upgrade Companions for all roles will be available on the Learning Home and at epic.houstonmethodist.org/companions starting Monday, Jan. 15.
Practice Now in Playground – Get Hands-on View of Changes
The Epic Playground now reflects the Epic v2017 upgrade. Use the guided activities located on the first page of your Upgrade Companion to view changes and practice new workflows.
For an updated list of user IDs and passwords for all roles, view Accessing the Epic Playground on the Epic website. Remember, you can see upgrade changes for other roles, like providers, by using the appropriate playground user IDs.
