A new hand hygiene pilot on 5 East and 5 West begins April 17.
The new pilot called Hygiene+ uses Bluetooth® technology to measure hand hygiene compliance. Employees will have a small device attached to their badge that sends a unique signal to the devices attached to each hand sanitizer and soap dispenser in the patient rooms. This technology will measure hand hygiene by tracking sanitizer and soap dispenser activations as well as room entries and exits. Because each device attached to the badge and dispenser will have a unique signal, we will be able to pull compliance data by room number, specific dispenser and department level.
This pilot includes health care personnel from many different departments who work on 5 East and 5 West including nurses, dietitians, transportation, physicians and more. Learn more about the pilot at the Hand Hygiene Fair.
