Yesterday kicked off a week to honor Health Information Professionals. I couldn’t be more excited to be part of such a pivotal and dynamic profession aimed at improving patient lives through the information we maintain, protect, and disclose.
In this week’s press release AHIMA CEO, Wylecia Wiggs Harris, Ph.D., CAE, stated, “While the health care ecosystem is constantly changing, health information professionals make it their priority to ensure high-quality data to enable better care for patients. Health information professionals drive success every day by using coded data and data collected within the EHR to improve clinical and business performance. It’s an exciting time to be in the HIM profession and be part of the healthcare movement to data-driven health.” I share the same passion expressed by Ms. Wylecia Wiggs Harris. It is great to be part of such a profession and its transformational journey.
Please join me in celebrating all health information professionals: whether it be a coder, HIM specialist or clinical documentation specialist, they all make such a difference to the care of Houston Methodist Sugar Land patients through their methodical, thoughtful and thorough actions involving patient data.
