I am excited to share Tiffany Riley has been appointed to the role of Director of Radiation Oncology and will start Monday, Feb. 19. As many of you know, our current director, Frances Goerlich, recently announced her retirement after an incredible 40-year journey with Houston Methodist. Her dedication and contributions to our system and specifically to HMSL, are truly going to be missed.
Tiffany brings an impressive background and a proven track record in radiation oncology, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality and safety, growth and innovation and finance. She joined Houston Methodist Hospital in 1992 as a radiation therapist and went from staff therapist to charge therapist, then to chief therapist before becoming a manager in radiation oncology in 2017. During that time, she became certified as a radiation oncology coder, focusing on billing procedures – both technical and professional charges. She helped develop upfront billing and documentation processes at HMH and worked closely with central billing on denial and recoupment appeals.
In 2022, Tiffany left HMH to open a brand-new outpatient building at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, which houses their comprehensive cancer center. There, she was also the manager of the radiation oncology department. While it was an opportunity to seize, Tiffany wanted to return to the Houston Methodist family, and we are fortunate to have her. Tiffany says she is looking forward to contributing to the success of our cancer program here at HMSL. We have a strategic vision for our oncology department, and I know Tiffany is willing to explore new opportunities to meet the evolving needs of our community and our staff.
To ensure a smooth transition, Frances will be working with Tiffany next week, but the two are no strangers. Tiffany worked with other radiology oncology directors around the system during her time at HMH, including Frances. We are confident she will build upon the incredible foundation laid by Frances and continue to drive excellence in patient care and collaboration within the department.
Please join me in congratulating Tiffany and wishing Frances a well-deserved retirement. We are confident that together, we will continue to provide unparalleled care to our patients and make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
