Four employees from each of the service lines (Ambulatory Surgery, Emergency Department, Inpatient Services and Outpatient Services) have been named as a “Star of the Month” in recognition for their commitment to our patients and I CARE values. These employees have been selected based on outstanding patient comments and feedback received. Each month we will alternate between featuring employees who received exceptional recognition from one of our various surveys (NRC Survey, RealTime, CONNECT Discharge Phone Calls, MyRounding) and employees who have been noted as going above and beyond through feedback from the Service Quality team and Guest Relations rounds.
We are excited to showcase and recognize the amazing hard work that our employees deliver to our patients on a daily basis. Thank you for being a part of our journey to unparalleled.
Chia-hung (Rex) Chen, PT – Outpatient
Patients had the following to say:
- Rex Chen was a great therapist. I would not have made the recovery I did without him. He was caring and concerned about my physical and mental recovery. He was instrumental in my recovery. I am confident that without him, I would not have recovered as well as I did. Thanks Rex!
- Rex is very nice and he is great with manual therapy. It was very helpful to my pain. Overall he is a wonderful therapist.
- Rex made my PT pleasant, bearable and rewarding. He was professional, knowledgeable, caring and concerned for my well-being. Best PT I ever had! Oh and excellent with the dry needles … LOVE those!
- My PT, Rex, was amazing!!
- Rex has gone above and beyond in executing my therapy.
- Rex has really helped my progress. I would see him if I have another need/injury.
Ricardo (Rico) Rodriguez, PACU RN – Ambulatory Surgery
A patient stated, “I had the pleasure of having Rico as my PACU nurse when I had my gallbladder removed on Oct 13. Rico has so much personality. He was kind, caring, & knowledgeable. He kept the mood as light as possible before my surgery. Great guy, great nurse.”
Sarah Yip, RN 4W– Inpatient
“Nurses and doctors took very good care of me. My nurse Sara would take me for walks and remind me to breathe and walk. Still think of her,” said a patient.
Nital Bhatt, Unit Administrative Assistant –Emergency Department
A patient said this about Nital, “An elderly female was at church when a bystander saw that she appeared to be not feeling well. When the patient arrived, she was unable to communicate with the staff. The person accompanying the patient did not know anything about her including her name. The translation line was unable to communicate and stated they did not have her language available. Nital went to the patient and attempted to speak with her in a few dialects from India until she was able to communicate with her. The patient did not know who she was or where she was and told Nital in Hindi that she was very scared. Nital stayed by the patient’s side and comforted her for hours. She worked with the church volunteer to try to locate the woman’s family. With thousands of members, the church was unable to locate the patient’s identity. Nital stayed with this patient over her shift until she was certain that someone had finally been able to contact her family. The next day Nital spoke of the patient and wanted to go see her in the ICU. Unfortunately, the patient had expired. With great sadness, Nital gave her condolences to the family. The family immediately knew of Nital as they had been told that this amazing person in the ED was with her the entire time. The family extended heartfelt gratitude to Nital for being there for their loved one in their absence. Nital not only went above and beyond to ensure that this patient was comforted, but she had an essential role in assisting the medical staff with providing care in the absence of the translation service.”
