2024 U.S. News & World Report Results

This first appeared as an all-employee email sent by Marc L. Boom, M.D. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

I am excited to share that Houston Methodist Hospital was named to U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious Honor Roll — the best hospitals list — for the eighth time overall and sixth consecutive year. Houston Methodist Hospital is again the No. 1 hospital in Texas for an impressive 13th consecutive year. And, unlike last year, we are no longer tied for first! Congratulations on this extraordinary accomplishment.

Four of our community hospitals also ranked statewide this year, with Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital returning to the statewide list for the first time since 2017 and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital making the list in its first year of eligibility. I’ll share more details on the state and local rankings below, but first, I want to thank each of you for maintaining such a high level of excellence. More importantly, you are there for our patients, and your commitment to them continues to be rewarded. I always say we never chase awards, but if we stay focused on the fundamentals, awards follow. This recognition symbolizes how you put safety, quality, service and innovation at the forefront.

We have so much to celebrate. In U.S. News & World Report’s specialty rankings, Houston Methodist Hospital again ranked in 10 specialties — and it is the 32nd consecutive year our flagship hospital has had at least one specialty ranked. Eight specialties made the top 20 this year, with three in the top 10. Here is a breakdown of our 2024-25 specialty rankings in alphabetical order:

  • Cancer — No. 18
  • Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery — No. 15
  • Diabetes and Endocrinology — No. 6
  • Gastroenterology/GI Surgery — No. 7
  • Geriatrics — No. 18
  • Neurology/Neurosurgery — No. 13
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology — No. 14
  • Orthopedics — No. 23
  • Pulmonology and Lung Surgery — No. 8
  • Urology — No. 25

I’m also happy to share our community hospitals’ U.S. News & World Report 2024-25 results. We had four of them rank statewide and locally:

  • Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital is ranked No. 8 in Texas and No. 5 in the Houston metro area
  • Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is ranked No. 9 in Texas and No. 6 in the Houston metro area
  • Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital is tied for No. 18 in Texas and tied for No. 7 in the Houston metro area
  • Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is tied for No. 23 in Texas and is ranked No. 9 in the Houston metro area.

I couldn’t be prouder of each of you, and I’m grateful to work with employees who put the patient at the center and make providing exceptional care the standard. Thank you for all you do.
