April 2024 Departmental Celebrations

Patient Access Week

Patient Access Week this year runs from March 31 – April 6. The first interaction patients have with Houston Methodist often begins with the access department, which makes it so necessary to have a friendly and knowledgeable associate to connect with. Access staff handle many aspects of a patient’s visit from scheduling, registration, financial counseling, receptionists, insurance verification and PBX. During National Patient Access Week, we acknowledge and celebrate our staff in the Access Department for the work they do and for acting as special goodwill ambassadors to begin the patient’s journey of receiving unparalleled care in our facility.

Black Maternal Health Week

Black Maternal Health Week is recognized each year from April 11-17 to bring attention and action in improving Black maternal health. Every person deserves access to quality health care and the support they need during pregnancy and childbirth.

Neurodiagnostics Week

Neurodiagnostics week is April 14-20. This year’s neurodiagnostic week is all about advocacy. Our neurodiagnostic technologists often conduct EEGs to record electrical activity of the brain and nervous system. They also work to help patients identify patterns that could be contributing to life-threatening conditions like epilepsy.

Health Information Professionals (HIP) week is April 15-19. HI professionals optimize data to help improve patient safety every day of the year.
