The following leadership announcement was first sent out via email from Chief Nursing Officer Janet Leatherwood on Friday, August 10, 2024.
It is my pleasure to announce Gilbert Barrera, Jr. MSN, RN, NPD-BC has been promoted to the position of Manager of Education, effective August 11, 2024. Gilbert has been a servant leader since 2005 providing guidance to new educators who have joined Houston Methodist Sugar Land Education Department.
He has been a nurse for 36 years and has a wealth of experience that includes 19 years as a hospital educator, eight years of Emergency Department experience, eight years as a LifeFlight nurse, one year of ICU experience and currently is serving as a clinical and simulation instructor at Western Governors University. For the 19 years at HMSL, he has been instrumental in managing our Vizient Nurse Residency program, serving as our LMS Administrator using Articulate for E-learning development and CE Development-Nursing Planner.
We are thrilled to celebrate Gilbert’s growth and look forward to his future contributions as a member of our management team.
