Our improved scores are the result of your efforts, each and every day, to enhance our patient outcomes. I am proud of how we responded to this challenge across the hospital.
One of the fundamental objectives of our strategic planning process for 2018 was improving the three major components of patient outcomes — patient progression; quality and patient safety; and patient satisfaction. It is gratifying to know that our physicians and staff have been so committed to this effort, especially since survey results play an increasingly important role in our financial health. Scoring higher on surveys conducted by CMS-Medicare/Medicaid and agencies such as Vizient leads directly to higher reimbursement levels from CMS.
In today’s complex regulatory and financial environment, we must constantly balance quality medical care, patient safety and efficiency/cost control to be successful. These results are concrete evidence that we are on the right track!
It’s important to stress, however, that we can’t rest on our accomplishments. It is vital that we remain committed to continuous improvement in patient outcomes, both for the safety and health of the people who entrust their care to us, and for the continued financial strength of our hospital.
Congratulations to all of you for your hard work and dedication! Let’s keep the momentum going!
