Jeffrey Wood, M.D., HMSL CMO/CQO
We are excited to announce that Jeffrey Wood, M.D., who has served as Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital’s interim Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer since May, is our new permanent CMO/CQO.
Over the past few months, Dr. Wood has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in enhancing clinical outcomes, improving patient safety initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement.
In his new role, Dr. Wood will oversee our medical staff and quality programs, working closely with several departments to uphold our commitment to delivering the highest standards of care. His clinical expertise will be instrumental in driving innovation while ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our community.
Dr. Wood, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, has been with Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Sugar Land since 2000. In 2010, he became a founding member of the Houston Methodist Neuroscience and Spine Center at Sugar Land (then named the Spine Center). In 2019, Dr. Wood became chair of the department of surgery at Sugar Land. In that role, he has focused on our surgeons, providing the highest standards of excellence in regulatory requirements. Dr. Wood also plays a key role in recruiting, training and evaluating surgical staff contributing insights and expertise to strategic decision-making processes regarding hospital policies, quality improvement initiatives and patient care protocols.
Dr. Wood completed his medical training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for Orthopedic and Rehabilitation at Pennsylvania State University. He completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. He obtained his board certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 2003.
