April 29, 2019 – At the HMSL Leadership retreat, we learned that humans have a lot in common with bees, ants and termites.
While most people spend a lot of time, energy and money trying to keep ants and termites as far away as possible, these insects are actually fascinating. Bees, ants, and termites work hard for the greater good of the group by building structures, gathering food, and taking care of and protecting each other. Humans need these same things.
We all need purpose and a sense of belonging to thrive. We need to practice presence (mindfulness) in order to meaningfully connect with others. We need positive energy growth. Positive energy broadens our horizons, and an attitude of gratitude widens our scope to see the goodness around us.
How can you use purpose, presence and positive energy this week to make better connections with your family, friends and coworkers?

I will try to listen more to my family. I will take in a ” fix it” or ” feel it” kind of stance.
Instead of finding ways to fix things I’ll ask should this be something I need to feel or fix.
