Sepsis Awareness Month
September is Sepsis Awareness Month. Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to an infection. It is a life-threatening medical emergency. Without timely treatment, sepsis can rapidly lead to tissue damage, organ failure and death. When it comes to sepsis, take the TIME to learn the signs:
· Temperature: higher or lower than normal
· Infection: may have signs and symptoms of infection
· Mental Decline: confused, sleepy, difficult to rouse
· Extremely Ill: severe pain, discomfort, shortness of breath
Environmental Services Week / Housekeepers Week – Sept. 8-14
This is a week for us to thank, show appreciation and reward our hardworking staff here at HMSL. Housekeepers Week is celebrated every second full week in September. Our EVS staff keeps our facility running clean and efficiently.
Neonatal Nurses Week – Sept. 14-20
Neonatal Nurses Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of neonatal nurses. The contributions of these health care workers to the tiniest patients (as low as 500 grams and as young as 23 weeks gestation) make a difference that lasts a lifetime for neonates and their families.
Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
September is the official month for Ovarian Cancer Awareness. It is the fifth leading cause of cancer death in women in the United States. These cancers often go undetected until they’ve reached advanced stages.
Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about prostate cancer and generate support for those affected by the disease.
Human Resource Professional Day
Human Resource Professional Day is celebrated every September 26 and is designed to pay tribute to those working in HR departments everywhere. This day also aims to raise awareness about the role of the job. HR supports all departments. Not only do they hire new staff, they also coach/work with teams to build team dynamics to foster a positive work experience. They also work with leaders to identify talent to build our bench.
